Tiling Courses & Training
A Tilers job is more than sticking ceramic tiles to a wall, it's a type of art which needs a good eye in order to satisfy customers. A tiler would need to estimate the amount of adhesive and tiles to be ordered (know as setting out). With this type of work an employer would usually be looking for someone with experience in order to take someone on. Gaining experience could be tackled by becoming an apprentice or a tilers mate. A Cscs card is usually needed to be allowed to work on-site. An average tiler could earn between £10 - £14 per hour, or by working self-employed they could potentially earn up to £35 - £40,000 a year. Tilers can further their career in specialised areas such as swimming pools, mosaic walls, spar areas. Although there's no need for qualification to become a tiler, from 2010 there will be a requirement for tilers to hold a level 2 NVQ to be able to work on site. |
